Glass Ceiling Music: News

GCM Welcomes Backdraft Entertainment to Western Washington! - May 1, 2010

As you may know by now, as of March 26th, 2010, Glass Ceiling Music (GCM) is no longer functioning under the original business model established in 2007 by founder, Travis Orcutt. In an agreement with Mr. Orcutt, Backdraft Entertainment has acquired Glass Ceiling Music and will re-open this segment of the business later this Summer. GCM will be handled by a new set of faces and in the 'bar scene' setting that helped make the company a success in past years.

Please feel free to contact us if your band or venue may be interested in the newly designed Glass Ceiling Music and/or larger events through Backdraft Entertainment.

Glass Ceiling Music's Final Show!!! - March 23, 2010

Glass Ceiling Music’s Final Show

It is official. This is not a gimmick or a hoax. After this Friday’s concert at Puyallup’s Liberty Theater, Glass Ceiling Music will take its final bow and exit stage left.

From the first show in May of 2007, Glass Ceiling Music has stood against the grain by offering an alternative to the ‘pay to play’ practices that had dominated the local bar scene. Standing by a simple mission statement, “Respect for the Artist, Respect for the Venue, and Respect for the Industry”, Glass Ceiling Music provided more than 100 bands and artists stages to perform on all across the Puget Sound Region.

The awards and positive press reviews, as well as the great friendships developed along the way have made this whole experience one worth living over and over again. Glass Ceiling Music thanks those of you that worked so hard over the past weeks, months and in some cases years to provide opportunities for so many local bands and artists through Glass Ceiling Music. Be it assistance at a single show or dedicating yourself to the dream day after day for the past three years, every one of you deserves the respect of those who benefited from your efforts.

As great as the efforts of the various staff has been, a company such as Glass Ceiling Music can only do so much to make an event great. The rest falls on the entertainment being provided. For every successful event, every total disappointment and every show that fell somewhere in between, it was the bands on the bill that determined the outcomes. It has been a mixed bag of tricks along the way and every show was an experience I will never forget. To all of you (good, bad or ... shall we say... challenging), Thanks!

Finally I want to thank my daughter, India and my closest friend, Joey. No matter how bad things got these two always believed in me and never gave up on my dream. They are what kept Glass Ceiling Music alive in my heart and I can only hope that each of you will one day have someone in your life that is half as supportive of either of these two have been to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

As the proud owner of Glass Ceiling Music I hope that you will all join me this Friday at Puyallup’s Liberty Theater as I say farewell and proudly exit stage left.

Sincerely,

Travis A. Orcutt
Glass Ceiling Music, Owner

Thursday's Rock at McCabes!!! - June 22, 2007

Last night, the Tacoma Music Scene was alive and kicking at "Nothing But Rock!!", the event series brought to you by Glass Ceiling Music every Thursday at 7pm. Our thanks to Society Says, Big Fat Alice, and the Crackpot Junkies for entertaining our ever-growing crowd. The staff of KGRG 89.9 FM joined in the party following thier remote broadcast at the event and the Jager Girls looked better than ever as they posed with our guests on the Quad supplied by C.O.R.E. Racing. Eternal Images snapped photo after photo of this event while the bar kept the good times flowing one pitcher at a time. We even had a suprise visit from XIL records, who after seeing the talent Glass Ceiling Music has been pulling into McCabes every Thursday Night, tried every possible trick in the book to get involved with our future events. We want to thank all of you that came out to the show, and welcome you back again next Thursday Night for Glass Ceiling Music's "Nothing But Rock!!". See the myspace link for more details.
